The Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME) proudly concluded its “Blue Pioneer” camp, held in the State of Kuwait from August 3 to 14, 2025. The camp brought together about 16 enthusiastic participants from ROPME Member States and other organizations, offering them a unique opportunity to engage directly with the marine and coastal environment through a dynamic mix of workshops, practical activities, and field visits.
A key highlight of the camp was the partnership with the General Directorate of Coast Guard, where participants toured the Coast Guard headquarters and learned about advanced maritime control techniques and the institution’s vital role in protecting marine resources. At the ROPME headquarters, students participated in a hands-on marine mapping and species identification workshop, deepening their scientific understanding of the region’s ecosystems.
This immersive experience fostered environmental stewardship, ignited scientific curiosity, and empowered the next generation of marine conservation leaders to contribute actively to the sustainable protection of the ROPME Sea Area. The event concluded on 14 August 2025 with a gathering of Ambassadors and prominent personalities and a speech by the Executive Secretary of the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment, followed by remarks from participating parties. The ceremony included the honoring of participating organizations, trainers, supervisors, and students, celebrating their contributions and achievements throughout the camp
