The Research and Development Program (RDP) is designed to advance and promote marine research on key oceanographic and environmental issues in the ROPME Sea Area (RSA) and its geographic subdivisions. The Program emphasizes strengthening remote sensing, monitoring, and modelling capabilities through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies. It will also coordinate regular marine cruises, field surveys, and the development of regional Common Marine Indicators.
In addition, the RDP aims to foster scientific research that supports a comprehensive understanding and integrated management of marine ecosystems in the ROPME Sea Area. Research findings and emerging insights will be shared with relevant academic and research institutions and regional networks, ensuring evidence-based policies and the sustainable management of marine resources.
