Periodical assessment of the state of marine environment in the whole ROPME Sea Area (RSA) was and still a major task in the ROPME Regional Action Plan, under the umbrella of the Kuwait Convention.


The Blue Pioneers Program is a regional youth initiative launched by ROPME to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of environmental leaders across the ROPME Sea Area. It focuses on building awareness, practical skills, and regional collaboration around marine and coastal protection.

The Marine Pollution Prevention and Response Program aims to reduce the risk and impact of oil spills, chemical discharges, and land-based pollution sources across the ROPME Sea Area. It includes preparedness planning, regional contingency coordination, and rapid response training for national teams. The program also strengthens legal frameworks, enhances monitoring systems, and promotes environmentally sound

The Regional Program for Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) promotes sustainable development of coastal areas across the ROPME Sea Area. It provides a coordinated framework for balancing environmental protection, economic growth, and community needs along fragile coastal ecosystems.

Biodiversity of the ROPME Sea Area (RSA) consists of a number of different individual species of organisms living in a variety of marine ecosystems. They are ecological, economical and socio-cultural importance, and also conservational importance when they become in threatened levels.
