The Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME) concluded its “Blue Pioneer” 2025 summer camp, held from August 3 to 14, with the participation of a group of secondary school students from the organization’s member states.

This camp was organized as part of the organization’s preparations to launch its new strategy, which includes several priorities, among them “Blue Education,” encompassing activities that enhance school education and others related to extracurricular learning, such as the “Blue Pioneer” camp. The camp program was based on genuine student participation in activities that simulated real-world practices of governmental, private, and civil society organizations. These activities included environmental diving, oil spill response, marine charting and navigation, coral and fish farming, participation in environmental analyses, monitoring the fish market (including fish species and buying and selling methods), feeding marine life, and preparing and cleaning aquariums, among other things.

“The program is part of the organization’s marine environment strategy, which includes education and outreach to civil society and the education sector”-Executive Secretary of ROPME

The organization commended the active participation of all relevant institutions and expressed its deep appreciation to the embassies of member states for including their citizens in the camp. This contributed to combining the environmental and educational success achieved with the success of strengthening communication among the participating students from the region.

Students from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the camp.
