The Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME) is an intergovernmental organization comprised of member states bordering the ROPME Sea Area. These member states are fundamental to the organization’s structure and mission, having initiated its establishment by signing the Kuwait Regional Convention for Cooperation on the Protection and Development of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Areas in 1978.
